Cococa
The Cooperatives Consortium "COCOCA" is a union of coffee-growing cooperatives established in October 2012. It unites 33 cooperatives, representing over 27,000 member coffee farmers. With 34 washing stations and the HORAMAMA Coffee Dry Mill, COCOCA provides end-to-end support in coffee processing and marketing. The union operates as a cooperative society.
Key Features:
- Quality Control
- First Level: Quality is maintained from cherry selection, pulping, and grading to drying and storing parchment coffee at the washing stations.
- Second Level: At the HORAMAMA Dry Mill, coffee undergoes rigorous processes, including traceability, sorting, and grading.
- Commercialization
- COCOCA ensures successful marketing by implementing and annually updating its promotional strategies for local and international markets. Quality control results directly influence the marketing outcomes.
- Funding
- Pre-financing is crucial for operational activities and payments to farmers. COCOCA collaborates with financial partners and donors to sustain its processes.
- Certification & Capacity Building
- These initiatives strengthen the entire coffee value chain, from cultivation to the final market, fostering synergy among stakeholders for improved system performance.
Through strategic coordination and innovation, COCOCA empowers coffee farmers and enhances their participation in global markets, ensuring sustainability and quality excellence.
