Centered in the village of Ana Sora, part of the famous coffee region Guji, the Ana Sora washing station is well-known for its fantastic coffees. Lodated at an elevation of 1.900 and up to 2.350 meters above sea level the plantations is unique because of its high alittude. This causes slower maturation of the coffee cherries as the temperatures are lower and the cherries have more time to develop, which brings the super unique cup profile you may only find in Ethiopia.
The Ana Sora farms and washing station is also unique as it is privately owned and belongs to Israel Degfa who learned all about coffee production by growing up as the child of a cooperative manager and his mother selling green beans at a local bus stop.
Until 2018 all coffee was processed natural but with the nearby river Turo the decision was made to also produce washed coffees so advantages was taken to use the water of the river and built a washing station.
All the coffee is shade grown inhabiting the following trees: Albizia gummifera, Cordia Africana, leguminous trees as well as false banana trees.
