Kachipapa Farms
In 2016 Roy Bennett and his family found the land near the town Serenje in central Zambia and started the coffee farm.
At an altitude of 1.450 Meters above sea level, the temperatures are moderately lower than in the rest of Zambia while the rainfall is higher on average with 1000 – 2000 mm annually. To provide enough water in the dry season, a dam was built to collect water for an irrigation system. Using the natural grass for mulching the trees also helps to keep the moisture on the soil and slows down evaporation. Altogether this land provides an ideal climate to grow coffee and other crops which are providing additional income. The deep red soil contains a high level of nutrients which is having a positive effect on the bean as it comes out sweeter and more complex.
