Java Jampit
SCA Cup Score: 83
Apple, Cherry, Malic Acidity, Smooth Body
The Jampit Estate is one of four estates on the Ijen plateau in eastern Java, on the edge of the Merapi volcano.
Here, at 1,600 meters above sea level, conditions are ideal for coffee cultivation. The soil is rich in minerals from the volcano, and there is plenty of rain and sun throughout the year.
The coffee is harvested by hand in several steps and processed as washed coffee. After washing, the coffee is dried in the sun.
Strict quality management ensures that the coffee is cleaned by hand from defective beans.
The Jampit Estate uses about 3000 hectares of land for coffee cultivation and is owned by the government.
Families in the region have been growing the coffee for generations, and their knowledge of traditional cultivation is what makes this coffee so outstanding.
